Sir Donald George Bradman, AC (August 27, 1908 — February 25, 2001), often called The Don, was an Australian cricketer who is universally regarded as the greatest batsman of all time,[1] and is one of Australia's most popular sporting heroes. His career Test batting average of 99.94 is by some measures the greatest statistical performance of all time in any major sport.[2] By way of comparison, the second and third best Test averages over completed careers of any length are 60.97 and 60.83.[3] This disparity between the best and the second best suggests that Bradman may be considered one of the greatest athletes of all time.

no doubt sachin tendulkar or maybe even brian lara, steve waugh, allan border and donald bradman. sir donald bradman needed juz 4 runs in the last game before he retired to get a unbeatable test average of 100 but he got bowled out for 0 in the end he had a average of 99.94. the rest hav more than 10000 runs in either ODIs or TESTS or even both!(sachin tendulkar)

For test cricket I think Brian Lara would be one of the best. I think he might have the world record of highest runs in one innings, he got something in the high 300's I think.
As for ODI's I'm not sure.
