I am thinking the reason for the season first. Jesus's birth is the reason we celebrate Christmas. . Gift giving is just a by-product. I do realize that it is just my belief and I am not trying to push it on anyone else, but I do believe this. Having said that I believe the next thing I think of is being with family and celebrate the fact that we are all here and healthy and together and we all get to see each other and how the children can tell what they all got from Santa. The Spirit of Christmas is a mixture of things to me. Jesus, family, togetherness, health, happiness, children, Santa, good food, and one of the most important things of all LOVE.
Merry Christmas All!!!

'Mortal!! We Spirits of Christmas do not live but one day of our year; we live the whole three-hundred-sixty-five! So is it true of the Child born in Bethlehem!' ('A Christmas Carol', Spirit of Christmas Present, 1951; Noel Langley, screenwriter)
This gentle admonishment to keep the Christmas spirit in our hearts all year long wasn't in Dickens', but should have been. It's a lovely summing-up of the whole story.

In the true sense, the spirit refers to the gift of Christ being given to us by God as our savior to live among us. We celebrate that giving gifts to one another and performing acts of kindness.
