ok my kid wants a role playing game where you make a family and like run the house hold is there any thing like that?

What you want is a game like The Sims, however, this is not a role playing game, games in that genre are Zelda and the like. You can get Sims games on every platform, from mobile phones to PCs, and all the games consoles.

There is a game called World Of Warcraft where you make a character and you level them up. You dont make a family just one character and choose if you want them to be bad or good, the race(human, elf..etc), their color, hair, hair color and what talents is will have. This is an online game so I suggest you occasionally check up on the child so they or anyone else is doing anything bad.

The Sims is probably your best bet, but once they get the bug be prepared for the deluge of requests for the numerous expansions.
