I'd rather be laughed at than be hated. I would be very lonely without any friends if I'm hated. Laughed at is better.

I'd rather be laughed at. I've been both.
Being laughed at would be a negative experience, but it doesn't have the powerful punch that hatred does. It wouldn't bother me much if someone laughed at me - I'm finally secure enough about every aspect of myself that it truly wouldn't cause me to turn a single hair.
Hatred wouldn't worry me much either - but at least laughter is slightly pleasant.

Hated. I can't stand being laughing at or looked down upon. But really, both are not very desirable choices.

I would rather be hated, because I would be the one hating them if they looked down on me. I'd want hate to destroy them, not me.

well....I guess I'm more likely to be killed if I'm hated. Being laughed at, I can recover from that. However, if I'm hated for something I truly believe, then I guess I have no choice but to suffer the consequences of my belief (or change that belief).
I guess my real answer is: It depends.
