First, you have to find "three primary documents" to write about. The limits of your resources become the limits of your choices.

Second, you have to understand the things you reference. As a student, you will need to locate additional sources of those who have already analyzed those documents, particularly to the points that you feel you can write about.

Third, don't bluff and bull your way through. Your graders will likely see others using the same resources and have probably been intimately familiar with them themselves, so they will know baloney immediately. That is where the secondary sources come in, to help explain them to you. The general rule of thumb is find at least two sources (preferrably more than three) for each of your primary documents (and the trick is to have the primary documents fairly closely related so there is a lot of overlap). This does a couple of things: (1) the sources will have areas of agreement, which helps you understand and, importantly, gives a sense of consensus, and (2) the sources will have areas or issues of disagreement, which makes the matter real and complex (and sometimes really complex).

Touch on the "issues", touch on the "consensus", touch on the sources, touch on those who analyzed those sources, and touch on what it all means to you. Tell what you know, tell what you learned, tell what you now think on those things, and tell it the best way that you honestly know how. Give it a good effort, it will be work, but if you do that work and make that effort, it will be good.
