What makes any of the spreads 'work' is the one who reads it.

Tarot Works?
It's only a tool for our intuition, and in whatever way we firmly believe it will work, it will work.

However, more important than the pattern of the spread, I feel, is the symbolism of the cards to be inspired by. I feel that the Rider Deck best shows the ancient knowlege and symbolism, although it may not be the most beautiful on the market in terms of artwork.

Most people do not realize that the Tarot stands for our energy fields, the number of which is hidden in the cards, and their numbers on the cards themselves. Knowing the original, sacred energy connection makes the reading more powerful. Our energy fields are even mentioned in the Bible.

A good reading shows where the energy is going. All is energy and can be changed. If the result is not the best, the energy flow should be changed before the person of the query leaves. Otherwise fear and expectations of a bad experience may manifest. The same is true of the positive: positive expectations may manifest, too!

Much wisdom.
Cordially,

If you are using Tarot cards as an oracle, you may be more inclined to read card meanings and spreads. But if using Tarot Cards as a tool for Psychic Ability you would be less likely to hold to any hard and fast guide lines. I’m a profession psychic and use Tarot Cards in a random way. In 25 years of professional readings I’ve never used any ‘meanings or spreads’ of tarot cards from any books.

So if you want to develop ‘Psychic Ability’ throw the books and guidelines away and let the images inspire you. But you may need to try the Rider Waite or another imaged deck.

I believe we are all psychic, but for the majority the gift or the belief has been long knocked out of them. Educated out is another way of looking at it. Many professional psychics have grown up in a psychic friendly environment. Perhaps a grand-parent or parent with the knowledge has helped bring the extra sense out in the open and encouraged its use. But there are as many practicing psychics who have not had the benefit of caring psychic guidance and who have still managed to develop and hone this natural extra sense. The Psychic Sense.

To tap in to it more you can go to my free develop-psychic-ability page here: http://www.psychic-junkie.com/develop-psychic-ability.html

But on the other hand, if you want to use the Tarot as an oracle, a form of divination that needs no real ‘psychic ability’, then keep the books and use the meanings and spreads if you prefer.

Here is a free download demo for a great Tarot program. To keep the size of the demo manageable it contains the Rider/Waite deck, the actual program will have 10 complete decks. This Demo version of Tarot is a full working copy for 30 days. So you get 30 days to study meanings and spreads! http://www.free-tarot-download-demo.wotsnext.com

I use the celtic cross most frequently because that's what I learned. But I do have a book of spreads for specific questions. If I think of it, I pull one of those out if they apply to the question.

So I guess my answer is - I don't think the proof is in the spread; it's in the reader.

Try doing readings for yourself and close friends. Try out several until you find one that gives you the most accuracy. I prefer the Celtic Cross spread or the Wheel of the Year.

celtic cross spread works really well.
For more basic questions you can use a 3 card spread past, present, and future.

I think they all work. It depends entirely on the reader.

Personally I only use the Major Arcana and a six card spread. I'm 95% accurate, thank you very much:)

I've been doing a three-card "past present future" spread lately to get an insight onto certain situations and how they may unfold.

its all about you , which ones are you most comfortable with . personally i just use the 3 card , past present and future , and if i happen to need more cards out i just pull them out accordingly ... another thing that always works with me is ... shuffle the cards til you feel your done , then spread them out upside down , and either the person thats asking the question pick out there cards and you read them as they come out for them , or pick your cards if its for you and do the same , simple but it works

They All Work. The best ones are the ones developed by none other than you, yourself and you assign the placement and meaning of the card position to.
