thinking about taking a large closet and making it a half bath.

An easy was to remember what is included (at least in Florida) is to think of square feet heated. Any areas that would have heat (rooms, closets, etc.) are included. While places like garages and patios are not.

umm... actually closet space is measured by square footage....depending on how big your closet is it might be a bad idea because of water lines and sellling and redoing the room

Yes, and good idea. It can increase the value of your home and make it more attractive to prospective buyers if you ever choose to sell.
