router ip games?

before i had a router i could play 2 player games with my friend in another street now i have a router if i go to ipconfig command it doesnt give the right ip address to connect ip to ip games does anyone know a way to do this without unpluging the router it is a NETGEAR MR814 V3

You say "it (ipconfig) doesn't give the right ip address", so i bet if you read your router's manual and set up a static ip with the right ip address, it just might go.
Alternatively/ also your router may have a firewall that is blocking ports and protocols.
A start would be to try and ping your buddy and see if he can ping you.
