My band teacher is really coming down hard on us and I still need help at the beginner level. And this is one of the biggest problems right now(I'll give her a problem one of these days). I do not know how to transpose the concert notes into clarinet notes. I should have learned in beginner class last year but it just did't stick. So I need some notes right now and how to transpose. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK: If a passage is written in concert pitch and you want to transpose it for B flat clarinet, you need to transpose up a whole tone.
If the passage is written for B flat clarinet and it needs to be transposed to concert pitch, move it down a a whole tone.
If the clarinet is in A, then transpose 3 semitones up or down, with the same rules as stated above. Good luck!

Ah, clarinet player at your service! Now, I'm not 100% sure how to do this, but it's something like this:

When your band teacher tells you a note, the note on the clarinet is three half steps up. So, for example, when my band teacher tells me to play my concert B flat scale, I know that I start on C, because C is three half steps up from B flat...hopefully that helps!
