My young son spilled chocolate milk on it and I have had it for over a year and have not had it washed because I am afraid it will fall apart. Has anyone ever washed one? I have a front loader washing machine and I know it would FIT, I'm just afraid of ruining it.

I have washed many down items, including comfortors.

As long as your washer can handle the size, go for it.
Few tips: Never use any fabric softener, this will clump the feathers together, which will cause you to lose the loft of the down plus the warming quality of the down.
Use only half the amount of detergent you would normally use ... this is really important. You will coat the fine down otherwise and it will be impossible to regain the feathers loft again.
The blanket will stink awful when it comes out of the washer - don't worry - the smell will be gone when it is dried.
When drying, it is so important to put tennis balls in the dryer. By a cheapie 3 pack, keep them in the laundry room just for washing down items. It will be very noisy while drying - but it is worth it, the feathers will be separated and clump free. Further, the blanket won't smell anymore.

The best product is an oxegenated laundry ball that contains only large, electrostatic pellets and not detergent: nothing yellows. Try E-Bay, they are available there for a reasonable price and will last about 100 washes per ball. These are also fantastic for people who have allergies to soap. Wash comforter on low or delicate cycle, esp. if the fabric cover is delicate. Feel free to use a laundry stick on the stains. I personally use natural Quick N Brite on just about everything in the house and it will take out ANY stain, even those that are years old. Use tennis balls in the dryer to fluff the feathers, or, partially air dry (recommended), and then fluff in the dryer. I also wash my down pillows this way, and use synthetic donut style rings in the dryer made for this purpose. Good luck!

no remember if that's feather crammed which includes down it somewhat is going to flow lumpy while moist yet could dry ok. they are appropriate tumble dried and you do desire a huge washer to make a solid interest. you merely desire a low temperature wash till that's a cotton conceal and you at the instant are not likely to get any shrinkage. somewhat that's appropriate to take it to somebody who advertises that they do wash duvets as they have ideal kit. i comprehend it somewhat is somewhat costly even with the undeniable fact that that's properly worth it

First read the Label on it. Then Make sure your machine is big enough,it needs room to agitate and if IT doesn't have the space it won't come our as good as it should. You can take it to the laundry and to it there in there machines as they are very large and they also have very large dryers.Add 4 tennis balls to the dryer, so the down will not clump in one spot.
