The root of prejudice against the Jewish people have a long and dark history and there are many reasons for it.
1.) christians (die hard racist ones), historically blame jews for the death of christ (specifically Judas Escariat)
2.) A people who survive the brink of near extinction when most of the ancient world is now dead and gone, can only breed prejudice by other cultures who see their extinction in the context of the percievd dominance of western civilization with its "Judeo-christian ," roots as an affront.
3.) A pervasive thing within thin christian religion (which is usually never discussed) is that, christianity came out of Judiasm, after all Jesus christ was Jewish. How Ironic this should be since most christians (specifically the catholic church) blames a jew for his death. This profoundly offended alot of christians (specifically catholics) untill vatican II, which somewhat absolved the Jewish people from this historical stigma. The question still remains, of the pre-eminance of christianity among the other major religions of the world (i.e. Budhism, Islam, Judiasm and Hinduism).
There is an old saying, in revolutions, the revolutionaries always attack the old ways, ideas or systems in order to gain political legitimacy. The same thing was done in christianity with the jews, by attacking the jewish faith and trying to make the jewish people relagatd to the antideluvian archives of history, the new christians (i.e. the new testement) secure with the percieved destruction of the Jews, can recast themselves as the original, legitimate and new Isrealites, thus taking up the reins of power and succession (a typical coup de et tat), However , has history has shone, the destruction of the Jewish people never came to fuition nor did they assimilate with any other cultres they came in contact with, on the contray they preserved their culture, to the dismay of the revolutionaries (specifically the Europeans). Also, many did not count on the creation of the state of Isreal, which plays into the whole scheme of things, but that is another story..anyhoo I am just a small pion in the larger scheme of things.

Zionist have convinced everyone that Zionism is the same as Judaism and that the Zionist state of Israel is the same thing as the Israel of the Torah. When they keep referring to the Nation State of Israel as the "Jewish State of Israel," then people confuse what the Zionist are doing for what the Jews are doing. If you don't support the state of Israel, then people assume that you hate Jews. If Zionist claim to be Jews and they do what they do in the name of being "Jewish" - then someone says: " those Jews are evil," The blame should be put on the Zionist. We need to separate Zionism from Judaism because they are not the same.
It has been said that Judaism is like a "Rose" and Zionism is like a "Weed" chocking out the Rose. The President of Iran hates Zionist, Hitler hated Jews. Just because the Iranian President questions the Holocaust does not make him a Hitler.
As for the rest of History, I wasn't there.

any time a group is a minority they can and usually will be persecuted by the majority. american history is full of minority persecution from the irish to the asians to the latins to the blacks to the gays. its why we try to have a civilization. unfortunately when uneductated morons opinions are louder than those of their more intelligent counter parts you have mob reasoning which isn't reasoning at all.
Please remember the nazi agenda was aimed at many other groups as well -- the jews have just been the loudest in making sure history is never repeated. its estimated 500,000 serbs died before the first concentration camp was established. the genocide of gypsies is seldom discussed.
the abuses of the united states have given rise and fueled the fires of hatred in the middle east. jews are an easy target as they are the non-muslims in the bunch and the united states best friend in their eyes. get a bunch of muslims to form a mob based on the attrocities commited against them by israelis and americans and you have a big huge bomb ready to go off at a moments notice. what you do with that bomb is up to the leaders of countries like iran.

Most cultures in the world are mainly Christian nations. Back in the time when Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire Rome began persecuting Jewish people because in the passion of Christ it is said that high Jewish officials are to blame for Jesus' death. So, now ever since the time of the Romans and early Christians Jews have been blamed for all the evil in the world---i know its pretty stupid that are world can be so advanced technologically yet we can still believe things that people believed 1500 years ago (mind you these same people used to slaughter humans and lions for fun)!

Why is there so much hate for blacks? For whites? Why is there so much hate for Muslims, Buddhists, Christians?
The answer is simple: people fear what they do not understand, or what they do not care to understand. It's far easier to hate than it is to stretch out a hand in the hopes of frienship. Fear is programmed into our brains; generosity is not.
The fact that Iran's President is spearheading a study group as to whether or not the Holocaust actually happened does not mitigate the fact that it DID happen. It's a publicity ploy to keep him in good standing with the anti-Judaism, anti-Israel factions of Islam and to keep Iran in the world's eyes.

Though Judaism was the founding religion which set in motion Islam and Christianity, both religions have also used Jews as a scapegoat for their problems and whatever problems were happening at the time (such as the Black Death). Since a good majority of people in power have been or are Christian/Muslim, as are their people, it just became very easily for blame to be spread to the section of believers who simply have always been blamed since the very beginning of their religion's start. The generalizations of Jewish people as being greedy, power-hungry men who killed Jesus doesn't help either.

It's not just the Jews. People hate people. that's the best way to explain it.
Almost all wars can be riddled down to
[insert group or opinion] is not the same as mines therefore we must go to war.
simply put people fear what they don't know about
fear brings hatred hatred brings anger anger brings violence.

people need someone that they can point a finger at and say everything is their fault. it doesn't matter that the people pointing the fingers are the ones actually to blame.
people blinded by intolerance and bigotry can always find someone to blame for the state of things.
whether it is because of their religion, sexual preference, gender, or the color of their eyes. it doesn't matter. it makes it easier for them to live if they think that they are better than anyone else.

People who are in groups can release their own personal responsibility to go under the alias of the group as a whole. It's the whole functional logic behind riots. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupthink
