Just so you know I am currently a 16 year old who drinks responsibly and found that starting education of alchol and casual drinking at a young age is more effective than waiting till your 21 and binging at some frat party. I am also German who is an exchange student at a highschool in the US.

It been a few years since I lived in Germany, but I thought it was 16 to drink. American and European cultures are so different, that just because something works in one place doesn't mean it would work in the other. A lot of 16-18 in America have or do drink (myself included) and very often do not act responsibly (again myself included). If American 18 year olds were legally allowed to drink it would cause more harm than good. Then all the high-school age parties would be overflowing with more alcohol then there already is. And none of it would be responsibly drank.

No. I haven't thought this since I turned 21. And the older I get and see more and more the impact of irresponsible drinkers and the havoc they wreak on society, I feel less and less like we ought to make it easier for immature people to drink.
The Europeans have a much healthier attitude about this than we do and frankly they are more mature in their drinking habits than most Americans. Americans could stand to learn a thing or two from them. (And I'm an American saying this.)

Nope, and I'll tell you why. I'm in Canada, Ontario to be exact, but was raised in Manitoba. In Manitoba, the legal drinking age is 18, in Ontario it's 19.
And I'm tired of seeing kids getting trashed at the bar.
We are currently petitioning for the legal drinking age her to be raised to 21, to coincide with the states. Then again, this is a process they've been talking about for years ... I just hope they eventually get on with it.
Most 18 year olds do not possess the maturity or responsibility that comes with that priviledge of age, and react badly in situations that alcohol puts them into.
There's plenty of time to poison your liver after you're 21 .. patience young one.

No because if you go to a place to gamble they serve alcohol. You can't get in to the gambling places till you are 21 and I feel that you should not drink untill that time. Their would be a lot of accidents with young drivers too.

Yes and yes again. The liver of a young person hasn't enough with enzymes to break down the Al cohol before the age of about 18th and you might get severe brain damage from toxins from the breakdown products.

i was born and raised in Germany and our legal drinking age is 18
when something is forbidden that's what makes it more attractive
to a lot of younger People.. you can fight in the war but not drink..
that's not right.. if you're allowed to vote for who rules the country
you should be allowed to celebrate legally at age 18 BUT drink
responsibly

No. Simply because 18 year olds in this country are too immature and will without a doubt instantly start abusing alcohol.

No, I don't believe it should be. Unlike many European teens, American teens tend to be more immature and drink under age anyway. If you want to know real reasoning instead of what people believe, you can find out why they changed it to 21 in pretty much any book on American history.

I think European children tend to be more mature than American children. Europeans tend to be on their own at a much younger age while Americans tend to live at home for longer periods of time. In other words I do not think it is a good idea.

like it used to be in the 70's or like it was in New Orleans in 98.Ya MS got mad bec there 18 yrs were having a good time in New Orleans It should be 18 . If you're old enough to die for your country than you're old enough to drink!!!
