it is possible just open the picture with paint and go to file-save as and from then save as type- click on the drop down select your format and save.

P.S you have to rename it or you can override the current picture you are using by clicking on it and pressing save

You can open it in the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Tool, a free, open source image editor) and go to File → Save a Copy → Select File Type (By Extension) → JPEG image.

You can also use Media-Convert, a free online file conversion tool.

However, you should also try saving it as a PNG, the image quality will be much better and the file size may be smaller depending on how many colors your image uses.

Sure, download and install GIMP. It's free.

Just open your bitmap and save as a jpg.

This is a darn good image manipulation program too. Good for those of us who can't afford Photoshop....

Yes, open it, save as then change the bottom bit to JPEG, you can do it in paint even!
