I have my Wii connected to the Internet via the Nintendo WiFi USB device. It used to work just fine, and I had full access to the Shop Channel and WiiConnect24. Unfortunately, after installing updates to Norton this morning, it no longer connects, and I get Error 51340 on my Wii when I attempt to connect (cannot connect to the Internet). Even if I disable my Norton firewall and turn off Norton altogether, I still can't connect. Sometimes I even get a different error message telling me the Wii can't find the WiFi connecter, which I know is b/s since I completely reset the connection and it was able to confirm that I used the WiFi software to grant permission for my Wii. I am totally stumped and frustrated, especially since, before this morning, everything worked perfectly.

Try uninstalling Norton. If the connection works, then you might not want to use Norton AntiVirus.

OK, this could be a few different things:

1) You need to adjust your router's channel. Nintendo has suggested that wireless routers be set to either "1" or "11" as they are frequently unused and would hopefully reduce interference from outside sources.

2) Double check your WEP settings. If your router is set up to use a WEP password for security reasons, make sure that your password is entered correctly in the connection settings menu of the Wii (caps can make a difference depending on the router. mine is a Linksys -- the router lists all letters in caps, but i put them in lowercase on the Wii and it worked). If you are not sure of your WEP password, you could always turn off WEP altogether, or set a new password.

3) MAC filtering could be conflicting. If your router has MAC filtering enabled, you need to input your Wii's MAC address. I've included links to router information and wireless troubleshooting info in my sources.
