I feel awkward to get swimming lessons with kindergarten kids at this point of time

Sure, why not. I teach swimming to students of all ages and levels.

I enjoy teaching adults the most, because once they get it in their head that they are not going to die then they are on their way to swimming.

If you don't have a severe fear of water, with the right intsructor, you could be swimming in an hour or two. It is longer for younger swimmers because you have to get them adjusted to the water (get them over their fear of going under, not being able to touch the bottom), basically you have to trick them into swimming. But with adults it is 1-2-3

I taught a woman how to swim Friday night in less than an hour. I mean her stroke isn't perfect, that comes with time, but the hard part is out the way -FEAR of the water. If you can stand you are okay.

People have this misconception of drowing, truth be told by the definition of drowing you can drown drinking a cup of water, and you do that way more often than you swim.

But go for it, there are adult classes at the Y, Health Clubs, etc especially during summer, also look in to swimming schools they teach year round.

It's never too late! If you start now just think about how good you'll be at 23! And it could save your life some day.
I grew up on a lake, but never actually learned the proper strokes until I was older. I took a swim class at a community college to learn the properly strokes when I was 33, so it's never too late.
Total Immerision has books, videos and swim cards to help you learn if you want to attempt it on your own. Just be patient and It'll get easier each time you go.

Yes! I see no problem with that at all. Better that you learn now then not know at all. I was forced to learn how to swim at 10 yrs old. Besides almost drowning 3 times when I was younger. Im glad that I learned when I did bc if not I would of never known.

YES! The beauty of swimming is that you can swim all your life. It also keeps you in great shape and build muscle. Now if your talking about competing you might have a tough time but if it's just for fun or to get you in shape I say go for it.

no matter the age, it is always okay to learn how to swim. not only are you expanding on relaxation-options, but you are also saving yourself...it could happen that you fall into a pool at some stage in your life, and then you'll be grateful that you went through the (embarrasing) suffering of learning in the first place!

Find an adult class. It's never too late to learn a new skill, and swimming is one that could save your life one day.

lol @ bathtub. You should learn how to swim. I am sure you can find other places or times to take lessons so you don't have to take them with children. Check the city recreational ads.
