There are transmitters in the brain that 'mock' amphetamines and morphine. This human development book states that with attraction the "amphetamines" get triggered while attachment to someone triggers the "morphine" mockers. :)

According to Strenberg, love needs three things.

Passion, intimacy and commitment,.

Passion is there during the beginning where most feel the lust and cravings for the other person. However once this starts to get "old" the relationship should step into the intimacy stage where trust and honesty needs to be established. This is romantic love, where you begin to need each other for more than the sexual. Then there is secure romantic attachment where commitment is introduced. All three elements needs to be meshed in order to have a good relationship.

It is easy to be lustful and attracted to people, it is more difficult to forge a committed relationship which is needed for long term relations.

His theory makes sense :)
