Is it possible that your religious, national and ethnic background, upbringing, morals, values and beliefs influence who you are in a society wrought with racism, violence, expectations and confusion? In other words, does your background affect who you are, what ambitions you have for yourself and who you want to become?
Thanks

Of course ones rearing would reflect how they are has an adult, whether it's a positive influence or a negative one is another story. I grew up in small town America. Rarely did you meet someone with different religious views or cultural backgrounds. Had I been reared in a larger city, I would have encountered diversity. I grew up in a poor family, with a single working mother, a younger brother, and a niece and nephew that my mother raised, as my sister was too dysfunctional to care for them herself. Growing up in a household where you got by with nothing and faith, made me realize that was not the path I wanted to take. So, I went to college (which was a culture shock to say the least), and now live independently and comfortably by myself. Even still, when I visit my hometown, people look at me as if I'm an alien. The closed-mindedness is the same now as it was thirty years ago. But, I broke the barrier, I broke the mold, and I've never been more proud of the way in which reared. I know that others can be brought up in broken families, rich families, average families, all over the world, but basically, ones future lies with oneself. It's the choices that determines how it will be.

of course influences in you r character if they didn't influence nobody would have a character. Character is made by the experiences and morals and upbringing and the religious background that you migth have. It also influences your ambitions and the way you think of life. If it wasn't for your experiences in life you would never know how to live in society, well now there are some people that are easily influences by something as subtle as music or games, the way that your parents treated you in your childhood is very influential and leaves a mark in you for the rest of your life, whether it was good or bad. For some people having a crappy and poor childhood makes them want to be something in life while others just stay the same, while on the contrary if someone is rich he/she migth do something productive with the money or just throw it away, and they do all this according to the way they were raised, their moral and the way they think. It influences in everysingle person.

Yes... indubitably! Well said, by the way. Now you just have to copy and paste that question over into the religion and societies and culture section as an answer. It just about says it all.

No it is not an issue of your background. Anyone can be anything they want to be regardless of backgroud. Just put your mind to something and you can do it. If you want to do something and it doesnt work out, try another approach, and so on until you reach your goal.

If you mean your background as in how you were raised, then yeah I would say that it definitely does. That literally does define who you are.
