Homosexuality, in the scheme of nurture v. nature, would fall into the category of nurture. While it may not be a conscious choice, it definitely is not genetic, because logically, how then could the gene be passed down from generation to generation.

What a great idea! Those poor men who talk religious virtue out of one side of their mouth, and then whisper "oh boy" out of the other, are just victims of a birth defect!

How dare anyone snicker at Republicans or Christian Cult leaders who are found "liking the boys". Why, they are only victims of genetics.

We need to get together a lot of cash right away to cure this awful defect. How about a "March of One Eyed Soldiers" fund raising campaign?

It isn't considered a "birth defect". Although it does appear it is something someone is born with, calling it a birth defect is like saying being over 6' 5" is a birth defect. It isn't a birth defect, just a difference in their make-up.

It's not a defect like a malfunctioning heart valve. Male and female genders are standard issue. Homosexuality is an anomaly which occurs naturally in nature. Scientists have found evidence to support my statement. The reasons for this condition aren't clear. It is not a handicap. Homosexuality just is. It is like red hair, like blue eyes, big feet, petite hands. Big deal. We all have to adapt to differences. In the realm of sexuality, these people happen to be a special minority.

No one is seeking a cure for homosexuality because it is not a defect of any kind.

Because, I think, it has not been concretely established as a birth defect.

The problem is that neither side is willing to listen to the others. For EITHER side to say they know the whole story is extremely ignorant and arrogent on their parts. If we want to get to the heart of the matter, both sides need to sit down and LISTEN to one another...

BTW, Pip, saying that someone has a birth defect isn't calling them less of a person... Someone with Cerebral Palsy (JUST an example people) or with autism is no less a person than someone who is in perfect mental health...

Homosexuality is no more a birth defect then being born left handed, or having red hair, or being short, etc.

1. it's not a birth defect.....a birth defect would mean that it is not right, & you are not the one to say it's not right.
2. Being gay is only a small part of who you are if your gay.....just like I'm gay, but I also like the color blue, I'm also into soccer.... It doesnt define WHO I am, it's just a very small part.
3. It is also not a choice.....Thats like saying someone whould choose to be Mentally challanged....I cant go out in public & hold hands with someone I love cuz of the stares we will get, I broke my parents heart when I can out to them, I can get gay bashed @ any time, of constantly teased in school, SO tell me WHY would anyone in their right mind CHOOSE to be gay??!! They whouldnt.
4, You didnt come out of your mother attracted to girls or guys.....it develops.

because it's not a birth DEFECT.. why does being different have to mean you are less? I'm not gay but i don't think a gay person is lesser than I am.. and they function normally.. they just get their jollies in a different way than i do.. and they don't hurt anyone or invade someone elses rights in the process..
