It's b/c they don't think you can speak propahly.People in Boston don't use the litter "R" all that much.So when you are talking they think it's funny when you say a word wrong.Like the word Car people in Boston say Kah.And it's just people being assholes.

As a Yankee trapped in Texas, I miss the Boston accent! I listen to Car Talk on NPR just to hear a couple of bona fide chowderheads!

Boston accents are wicked pissah! Pahk the cah!

Don't let it make you feel bad instead enjoy it. I went down south and I asked for a Fork at a restaurant. With my Boston accent they thought I said F**k. It was so funny.

Don't let it bum you. I moved to Missouri from Boston and have been getting heckled ever since. I tend to fight back since the folks here have their own drawl (or drawrel, if you know what I mean). My aunt lives on the Cape, not my ant. If I get down, I pick up a bottle of Tanqueray and a boss of Tonic. I bang a right tuhn using my directional, and pahk my cah, but not in Hahvahd Yahd, cause there's no parking available there. I listen to NPR as well, since we get to enjoy our guys on CarTalk. Good call!

Everyone has some sort of accent. People just love to point it out when they can recognise one.... it's nothing against you personally, they just get a kick out of it.

I have relatives from the South who come up to visit and they get the same comments about their accent being silly just because it's different.

Don't worry about it. Be glad to be different and pround of where you're from.

Nothing, no matter where you're from, and where you go, that'll happen. Boston just tends to be a more recognized accent, so people harp on it.
