if its a relitively new stain, and the cloth is moist, baking soda rubbed into it as a paste could be used as a pre-treatment to washing.

Shortfrog is right about Whink Rust Remover. Once the rust is gone (and it disappears very quickly), wash the fabric so it isn't ruined by the chemicals. Also, wash any skin it touched.

Put the juice of a fresh lemon on it and put it in the sun.
May not work if your having winter weather, will work on a
hot sunny day.

Whink Rust Remover.........
it says not to use on clothing, but I have had good results with it.

You can try the CLR remover. Other than that I don't think you could get it out.
