I have been spotting today - it's either been light brown/pink in colour. It started at lunchtime and stopped about tea time. Is this normal? I had spotting but only a tiny amount when my period was due. I'm due to see the midwife on thursday anyway but any advice would be helpful.

there's your problem right there- go to a doctor.

the midwife might have left a screw driver inside last time.

I would call her and let her know it could be nothing then it could be. With my miscarriage it started like that. And with my son and this pregnancy I had spotting between 7 to 10 weeks. I am now 30 weeks and healthy pregnancy. It really all depends on what they find, give your midwife a call tell her what's going on and see if they want to see you sooner or not.

Spotting is not considered normal, but on the other hand it may not mean anything is wrong. You may have spotting after sex or other activity. You do need to report this to your doctor and watch out for bleeding that will soak more than one pad an hour, severe cramping, lightheadedness, and fever. If you experience these symptoms, you should get to the ER as soon as possible.

You need to call your health care provider, immediately. Should your pregnancy have complications, I strongly suggest you use an OB/GYN. There is a good reason for hospitals, and medical degrees. I had 3 complication filled pregnancies, as well as 2 babies born with heart birth defects. When your baby is born bluish purple, you would want a doctor and all the medecine available right then and there, not later, believe me.

i would err on the side of being overly cautious when pregnant. i would call your midwife. i experienced this with my second pregnancy at about 10 weeks. a few days later -i was bleeding pretty heavy. it turns out it was the placenta partially detatching. it could be nothing, but better to know. when in doubt, call. if you haven't picked up "what to expect when you're expecting" i recommend you do so. it like an encylcopedia of pregnacy, a great book to have on hand.

I remember my wife doing this...first time was with our 10 pound son and 3 years later she did it when she was with twins... 8 pounds each....all 3 were 2 weeks over due date. Don't panic...just take it easy and go see your doc. just in case.

it's implantation bleeding from the egg attaching to the side of your uterus. i never had any bleeding or spotting my entire pregnancy but i'm pretty sure that's what it is.
