It should automatically update...what's wrong with the microsft site? It's the most trustworthy thing you're going to find...for an alternate browser, I'd try Mozilla Firefox; I personally like it better, and it updates on it's own!

nowhere but Microsofts website

You should seriously consider in buying the Windows operating system if you want upgrade support. runnig illegitimate copies..that's what happens. you can't update.
