Probably a bit self-absorbed, impatient, and rude. It's distracting to yourself, the recipient, the instructor, and anyone near you. I say this as a person who has been and is a student and who has been and is a teacher, and someone who, not to my credit, has occasionally passed notes in lecture.
Note passing leadds me to a few questions. What's so important that it can't wait until the end of class? Do you expect the teacher to be respectful of you when you act disrespectfully (by ignoring them in class)? Are you being forced to attend the course? If not, why even bother to show up if you're going to act disrespectfully (no matter how quiet it seems). If you are being forced to go (i.e. in elementary/secondary school), why did the powers that be see fit to require this particular class? What are you supposed to get out of it.. if you aren't accomplishing what was intended, what can you do as a student to change that? Passing notes will rarely (pretty much never) accomplish that. If you're passing notes from boredom (to entertain yourself), you'll just get farther behind in the class and therefore find it more frustrating and boring, so note-passing becomes a self-defeating activity.
Anyway, not probably the answer you're looking for, but I hope this provides a little insight into why most teachers really don't like note-passing.

Why, exactly, do you love passing notes?
Kids have been doing that for years, it's not new. Jeesh.
Grow up a tad...and don't get caught with the teacher reading an embarrassing note to the class.

Passing notes in class doesn't count you as anything, it just means that you could be missing something important by not listenig to everything your teacher says.

As a teacher, it makes you "disobedient" according to the rules of MY classroom.
It indicates to me that
a) my lesson is not interesting enough
b) you are unwilling to be interested even if it IS interesting enough.
c) you are willing to interrupt another student's learning process (SHAME on you)
d) there are things that cannot wait (according to YOUR timing) for the next available break in class.
You would be disciplined if you did it in my class, and I have some pretty creative discipline ideas. . .grrrrrrrr

It means you have loose morals, and will back yourself into life's ugly corner with teen pregnancy, drug dependancy, and anal sex.
