Hmmm... That goes back to the 1987 reboot and Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Long story short... when the "Crisis" was over DC altered many of there heroes making all earlier incarnations come from alternate worlds (which were then seemingly destroyed). This is the current incarnation of the Princess Diana Wonder Woman. This 1987 reboot explained that Diana was blessed with powers and boons by the Greek gods.
Currently ther is also Donna Troy who is acting as Wonder Woman with similar powers. This is after the "Infinite Crisis" and One year later story arcs that DC ran earlier this (and last) year.

because there was a big stink a few years ago when batman wanted to join the mile high club.
He was boning wonder woman and catwoman in the jet over metropolis. When the comics code people found out they threatened to make wonder woman an adult comic unless they got rid of the invisible jet. The FAA got pissed as well because the jet was nothing but a white splotch on thier radar screens.

DC decided to allow Wondy to fly rather then have her run down to the nearest hangar, or wherever she parked the jet to go after whatever flying villain she happened to be fighting.

One explaination that was given n the comcs was that, whe does now actually fly, but she does glide on air currents and can use even the most gentle of them to life herself aloft, a skill that all amazona were supposed to possess.

it is the lesser of two evils... which is less lame, an invisible plane or her riding wind currents? i guess they decided floating on air was less lame...
