I have dementia secondary to head trauma and received a jury summons a few weeks ago and my wife just found it. Am I in trouble now? Will they come and get me? What do I do? I don't want to go down town so I put it in my desk. Do I have a warrant now?

First of all...Don't be scared. You are fine. Look on the paperwork to see if there is a contact number and have your wife get in touch with someone who can straighten this out. They aren't going to come and get you. You aren't going to have a warrant. You are fine. Just don't be scared. It can all be cleared up with a phone call. Remember this:
Fear is:
F ALSE
E VIDENCE
A PPEARING
R EAL
Losing the paperwork is not a smart move. A few weeks ago has come and gone...the trial has most likely come and gone...I would say...let them give you NOTICE once again. That would be my call.

Best thing you can do is contact the court office that sent the summons. If you ignore the situation and there is something you need to do, it will only get worse.

you call the jury office for the county where you live, and explain your situation to them. they may require a letter from your doctor to excuse you. failure to appear for jury service without notifying the jury office can result in a warrant and you being arrested. call the jury office and talk to them to avoid that.

Call the clerk of the court, and be prepared to show the court a doctors note.
