Will the box just say "Nintendo DS" or does it need to say "portable" or "handheld" or anything like that? I bought my kids each a Nintendo DS for Christmas and my parents are trying to purchase games to go with them. However, nobody knows what we are supposed to buy. The boxes look huge compared to the game system they are supposed to be played on. They are too expensive to open and then not be able to return and I don't want my kids to get the wrong games on Christmas and not be able to play with their new toy. Are there any parents who know more about this? I'd really appreciate it!

I know how you are feeling and i'm sure your confused but dont worry. The games for nintendo ds will say Nintendo DS on the right side of the game box. To make things easier I searched for some ds games on amazon.com this website will show you a lot of the popular games being sold for the ds along with other people's reviews on them. I find The reviews very helpful before I buy a game if I'm not sure if I would like it or not. On the link I give you it will take you to amazon.com and it will show you a list of ds games and pictures of what they look like. Just click on a game to read more about it, read reviews about it and you can also order it. I hope this helps you out!
P.S. If you go to target or walmart or gamestop and you arent sure exactly where to look for the ds games ask an assistant and they should be able to direct you to the section for the ds games. You can even ask them the games which are most popular if you like.
Some popular games right now are:
-nintendogs- you can take care of your own puppy, feed it, play with it ect.
-animal crossing wild world-you move into a village and you explore the town and make friends while trying to earn money to pay off the rent on your house and tons of other things
-Mario Kart Ds- This is a racing game where you choose and custimize your own kart and you race them agaist other characters. There are many race courses to race on.

These games you cant go wrong with and i'm sure your kids will like them. When you try to pick out ds games dont worry just find one that sounds fun and get it because you cant really go wrong with ds games they are all really fun. Also if your kids end up not liking a game you can trade it in at a local GameStop store even after you have opened the package and they will give you a certain amount of money for it or you can use it to trade for another used ds game or a different ds game. So dont worry if your kids dont like one because you can always get some money for it at GameStop or an EB games store.

I hope this helped you out! And good luck!

Here is the amazon.com link for the ds games:
