Blue has been proven to be calming and relaxing (light blue), while orange raises aggression. For a newborn, light pastels work not just because they're 'baby colors', but because the infant won't be distracted by the colors, and will equate the bedroom with a sleeping place.

"Blue can "slow the pulse rate, lower body temperature, and reduce appetite.""

Don't do red though--red also raises aggression "Red can evoke a fight-or-flight response, raise blood pressure and make the heart beat faster."

Pink might also be good, as ". At the University of Iowa, Hawkeye Coach Hayden Fry had the locker room used by visiting teams painted pink, on the basis of research that showed pink surroundings have the effect of reducing aggression!"

if you know the gender of the baby then I would go from there. I painted my babies room in a sky blue although he is a boy. If I did NOT know I might have had it in a light green or something it also depends how you are decorating the babies room to determine the color as well.

I don't think it really matters to the baby itself, since studies show that they can see black and white best when they're first born. However, for the people who want to come and see the baby's room, I've always been partial to painting it sky blue with big white fluffy clouds on top of that. I used to think I was being so original for wanting a baby's room painted like that, but I've actually seen it a lot now. It always looks nice, though, and it works for a boy or a girl.

While babies love bright vibrant colors, research shows that painting a room in vibrant colors may be overly stimulating for the baby and can cause sleep problems. I painted my sons room a light sea foam green. I love to go in there, it is just so peace full.

Well I have a little boy and I painted his room a blue that is simi bright. Then I painted the bottom half to look like sand mounds and painted red coral and green seaweed growing out. I painted fish, dolphins, a sea turtle, crabs, a lobster, a treasure chest, sea horses, an anchor, and other sea things on the walls. His room looks like a big ocean aquarium. When he is in the room he looks around and just ooo's and ahhhhs. Be creative about it.

I opted for a Dulux mix in the light peach shades. It works well for both boys and girls and is easy to coordonate with anything. Not too pink, not too yellow, just right in the peach/warm cream.
I can't remember the name, I'm sorry.

One tip: mix it like there is no tomorrow, event everything under the rim because otherwise you might end up painting on some red pigment right in the middle of your wall...Been there!
