normally around 6 months but it depends on whether your baby is physically ready for solids. Here are a few indicators of when a child may be ready for solids: when their birth weight has doubled; the baby has good head and neck control; can sit up with some suppport; baby shows interest in food when others are eating.

If your wanting to start baby on solids try a rice cereal (baby rice I think its called, sorry been a few years since my daughter was a baby) only 1 -2 tablespoons dry, mixed with breast/formula milk a day. Gradual increase to 3-4 times. Once baby is routinely eating this you can start introducing other iron-fortified cereal but only one new food a week so you can watch for intolerance.

I hope this helps you

Is this an infant? If so, the answer is - whenever it is hungry. Don't worry, your baby would let you know. If your question is when to introduce solid food (baby food), then the answer is not sooner than 4 months. Preferably closer to 6 months. After 6 months, there is not enough calories from milk to sustain proper growth when milk is used alone, although you could certainly continue to supplement with milk. The reason that you do not want to introduce solid food prior to 4 months is due to the baby's immature gut, which would have problems absorbing the proteins and other nutrients.

Not until 5 or 6 months. Their digestive system may not be ready before then.

You can try some watered down pablum about about 4.5 months...but it usually just ends up constipating them.

Start them on veggies first. If you start them on fruit, they will never eat the veggies. Trust me on that. My kids are good veggie eaters and it's because they learned YOUNG! Don't start milk until much later 8-1 year.

Start them on water, even a bit of apple juice for flavour, but a dash...at 2-4 months...just 2 oz a day.

If possible make your own mushed food. All this baby food is loaded with crap and it's no wonder so many kids have allergies....they may say it's not, but unless its Earth's Best or something organic, it could have pesticides and I think that's why lots of kids have allergies too.

We started feeding our boy when he was 6 months old. He didn't start eating a lot of baby food until now (he is 9 months). Our doctor suggested we begin introducing baby food to him when we took him in for a check up at 5 months but we waited a little longer. Now he can eat almost an entire #2 jar.

It depends on the baby, but usually between 4 to 6 months. My first one wanted no part of baby food until he was almost 6mons, but my last one we started on single grain cereal and baby fruits at about 3 and half months and she tolerated them beautifully. She is now 11 months and eats soft table food and is not at all the finicky eater that her older brother is. Look at the labels on the baby food and beware of giving textured food until the baby can safely chew. Earth's Best Organic Baby food is fantastic and gives clear directions on the label about which food is right for which stage of the baby's development. Don't worry, a lot of this kind of stuff is common sense and I'm sure you will do fine. Talk to your pediatrician if you are really concerned.

Lots of answers to choose from. APA suggests not introducing your baby to anything but breast milk or formula for the first six months of life becasue of the research that has been done. Infants exposed to foods before six months are more likely to develop allergies. If your child is gaining weight consistently then there is no need to introduce solids. Research also shows that there is no correlation between sleeping longer at night and eating solids.

At 4 months of age. Anytime before that their bellies really aren't mature enough to handle the solids and it could cause them to have an upset stomach and I even heard of it causing infections. Unless your doctor advises so, Stick to formula or breast milk till the baby is 4 months old. When s/he reaches that age then you can start off on rice cereal for breakfast then a bottle. a small jar of baby food and a bottle for both lunch and dinner. Good luck and congrats on your baby.

When they start showing interest in the foods you eat...
When formula or breast milk doesn't seem to satisfy them...
When their regular routine breaks like they wake up during the night when they've been sleeping through the night for a few months..While some will say 6 months, I gave my daughter far food at 3 1/2 months and she is fine.

Most can start around 4 months. My son is 6 months and still doesn't like it, but some are one Stage 3 food by now. Doctors usually say between 4-6 months.

well usually between 4 and 6 months you can start giving them the baby cereal... and at about 6 months you can actually try giving them baby food... they say it is best to start with veggies and to give it to them for 3-6 days of one kind first... to make sure no allergies and rashes appear why feeding them. Then move on from there.
