we want to move to a state or country that is gay tolerant and does not have racial prejudices or very little of this.

massachusetts is the only state where you can legally get married, and I've found it to be a welcoming place in general. a handful of other states allow for civil unions which allow for similar rights at the state level (california, connecticut, vermont, new jersey soon). The federal government will not allow federal marriage rights to any same sex couple, regardless of where they live.
Unless you're absolutely set on the US, you might consider Canada, you can have federal rights there.

good luck

Actually, you do realize this has been done in the past right? Strange but true. *shrugs* Usually they wouldn't adopt even, just have sex with one another, and then sort of separate into other couples, and continue living together and raise the children together. In the past it was one of the only ways that gay couples could have children, and so it happened. Did people object? Sort of. A 4 way marriage is a bit strange, but most people respected their rights as the natural parents of the children. In any case, the argument that a child does best with a mother and a father is dependent on the idea that the mother and father are together, and have to dynamically fix problems in order to stay together and love one another. Not something that a 'parenting partner' example would do.

I would go with either Canada or inner city california. When i say innercity, i mean a well known city. Not a hick town of 1000 people. San Francisco, Emeryville, Berkeley area is great. Race isnt an issue at all because its such a melting pot.

America is not very welcoming at the moment. May I suggest Canada or Spain? Those are the two options my partner and I are currently considering (I have a dual-citizenship in Spain) and both offer same-sex marriage, where America does not. Also, Canada's very big on helping people immigrate. Check out their local consulate if you can. :)
