Citrus! cats hate the smell of citrus. A spray bottle of citrus sent concentrate mixed with water such as an air freshener, sprayed liberally around the soil will work. Also you can put some spent rinds of an orange or a lemon around the bed area. This will do the trick too. I used both and it seemed to work very well. Cut up the peel after you eat an orange or use a lemon. Lime and grapefruit will also do. The more stronger smelling the citrus the better it will work... Good luck.

Get the cat an actualy litterbox. Cats, like humans, like choices. By providing another option, this will ensure the cat pees in the flowerbed at least half as often as before, which would be a good result here. Hope this helps, Pete.

Usually when a cat is using something other than it's litter box it is because the litter box is not clean enough (cat's are very particular) one mess could be enough to deter him. Best bet is an automatic litter box, expensive....$100.00 or more, but worth every penny. They also sell sprays and such at pet stores that you could try. Something else you could try is putting something around the bed that the cat won't walk on.....carpet protecter spiked side up, sticky anything, tin foil, etc.

I have been told that human hair will keep all animals out of your gardens...and it doesn't hurt any of them! I tried it this summer...it really works. I have a friend that is a hairdresser and she brought a bag of hair home at the end of the day...then you just lightly spread it through out the gardens. You probably would have to put fresh hair down once a month. Try asking your hairdresser...the worst they can say is no! Good luck!

My cat had an obsession with my indoor plants, too.
So, I bought several squirt guns and blasted him with water whenever he went near it.

For other bad habits (like tearing down my Christmas tree by climbing it), my vet recommened a drop of tobasco on the tongue. He never touched it again, and it did not hurt him a bit.

good luck
