Hmm, so I have a question about Yahoo answers. Most of the time when someone asks a moderately intriguing scientific question and a whole horde of people reply, the answers range from ridiculous to 100% correct with details. And there are some answers which are correct but lack details or proper explanation. Why is it that these middle answers always get voted best answer? The detailed, accurate, scientific answers don't get any votes. If the Asker isn't going to be fair, why should anyone answer his/her questions? Looks like some Askers only vote for answers that match their level of intelligence. So only Intelligent Askers vote for Intelligent Answers.

i think intelligent answers are rated low by stupid people, who couldnt beat the answer.
detailed, accurate, scientific answers are supposed to be the best ofcourse, but some people write a whole page about a simple question that can be answered in two sentences, also some answerers copy and paste too much details while they could only provide the link to the targeted site, maybe they like to show off.

It's not necessarily intelligent when you give a full detailed very scientific answer.
People around here vote for the answer that makes them understand better or in a faster way or that one which is true but amusing or sarcastic or whatever (the ones that you call less intelligent)
People can search the internet for what they are asking (if they want details and scientific answers), but the fact is most people are eager to know how ordinary people (like most of us) would view an issue or answer a scintific question with his own words!
And it requires intelligence to answer a scientific question with your own words more than copy/paste a link from wikepedia or whatever!

It seems that most askers want brevity. The media and the web are awash with information and Answers big attraction and advantage is that askers can 'cherrypick' the collective brains of the answerers. Now, that doesn't mean that Albert Einstein or Isaac Newton would be the preferred source of information if they were around to post answers. Askers take their information and move along. This is a disposable medium, ephemeral and untested. If an answer is incorrect, how is an asker to know? I think sometimes they take what they want to hear, and don't we all.

The asker may not understand the most detailed answer, or want to take the time to read through a long answer. They may only want to know a small bit of what the replyer gave them, and found that in another answer.

that's no longer the end results of religion. Australia is basically homogeneous with an incredibly low inhabitants and robust economic gadget making it common to handle. the US isn't homogeneous, does no longer have a good economic gadget, and has an exceedingly super inhabitants. Australia is equivalent to Finland contained in an analogous way. the two have very few issues. all the folk in those places think of alike and for this reason opt for an analogous issues from the government. it incredibly is because of the fact of "variety" united statesa. has it incredibly is issues. united statesa. additionally has so plenty greater poor who would desire to motel to creating use of crime to earnings easy needs. faith has truthfully no longer something to do with something. Oh and by using the way, we've a 14 trillion dollar debt. some billion money isn't something. the US is contained in the mess it incredibly is in because of the fact of imperialism, variety, being too super, misuse of money, corruption, and a grasping society from media impact between different issues. faith purely betters the US if something, think of approximately how plenty greater human beings might commit crimes and motel to hate with out it. yet although, you will no longer believe a element I even have stated because of the fact it is not what you opt for to believe.

" Moderately intriguing scientific question ? Who are you kidding, me or your self? This is the social science section. Answers here must conform to ideological positions. I have written extensively in areas that I am familiar with, but, found that I had wasted my time, because I am informed scientifically ( ethologist ) and neglected the latest ideological bent in social science. Now, mostly, brevity is the soul of wisdom and I expect most questioners here, in the social science section, to pick answers that support their preconceptions or ideological positions; not necessarily scientifically valid. Perhaps, I can get some in this section to think outside the social science box.

Merry Xmas! Don't worry about it, but I think it also depends upon what is asked simply and the clarity of the answer!
