No Italy did not cheat at the World Cup. But they did get away with a bad referees call in the Australia game, when they were given a penalty shot in the last 5 seconds. The Matterazi situation should have been expected by French players it is sometimes part of the game to fall down and fake an injury or to bait other players into taking penalties.
He should have approached Materazzi after fulltime and given him a piece of his mind. The world cup was at stake and Zidane should have done nothing DURING the game!
As for Materazzi he will go down in history as being a jerk with no class. Zidane will be known as the great player who lost his second World Cup to a stupid headbutt.

Peace,

That would not be cheating. That would just be provoking Zidane to do what he did.

I personally don't think Italy cheated in the world cup, excluding a dive every now and then, because honestly, I think all the teams probably did that.

Yes, Materazzi is a well-known provoker and since Zidane was an increasing threat he used that unfair trick.
Italian players proved to be the best at cheating, diving, simulating, fouling unnoticed.
They gave such a bad impression of us. Yes, believe it or not I'm Italian.

It is absurd ot think Italy cheated. Just because they got calls for them doesn't mean they cheated. They also got calls against them. THe refs are a part of soccer and i think it is an insult oto the beautiful game of soccer to think that the winner atomatically cheated and the game is corrupt.

Absolutely. But that doesn't excuse Zidane for what he did. That sort of thing happens all the time in soccer, and he should have been a strong enough player to ignore it. Both he and Matterazi were wrong in what they did.

Don't start this all over again. Italy won the World Cup, France were the runner-ups and Germany came a respectable third.
End of Matter

no no no...the France cheated! And Zidane headbutted Materazzi, not because Materazzi said him something,it's because Zidane is very aggressive person. And french players were diving on every match!

You know what I think?
I think Italy bribed Zidane to headbutt Materazzi
Materazzi knew it was coming
did you even see the replay?
when Zidane was walking towards him to heabutt him, Materazzi didn't even flinch or anything he just kept going forward

In conclusion, I think football today is a corrupted game!

you know what i call cheating? france's malouda diving to win an early penalty...because they knew that was the only way they'd score on italy. and henry doing the same thing against portugal. shirt grabbing happens, talking sh*t about each other happens, headbutting and losing it on the pitch? unacceptable
