I have been dating someone for about 2 months and we've hit it off really well and we like eachother alot and I want to get him something, but I don't want it to seem like I'm trying too hard, you know? I just want to be nice and he is going to get me something, too. He's 35, older than me, he like to hunt and fish and crap like that and I am clueless! What is a good gift, but without it seeming like too much or too little?

Gift certificate to his favorite sporting goods store. IF you want to actually buy something for him in there, talk to someone in the store who knows the b/f, who knows that he's got (and what he wants), and go with their advice.

Personally, I think he'd like you to put mistletoe in your hair, and show up on a date that way. (male grunting noises)

I think books are always a good gift. Not too extravagant, but can be very thoughtful. Get him a book on something he's interested in. I always do this when I don't know what to get. For instance, I knew someone going on trip within the next year. So I got him a book on the city he's going to.
Or do you know of a dvd or a cd he might enjoy? That's always a good one. Simple, not too expensive. Doesn't seem like you're trying too hard (or too little!)

I wouldnt like to receive gift certificates. I think that is an impersonal gift and just says i didnt have time to think what i wanted to get you... You say he likes the outdoors, so maybe it would be a good idea to get him a gift related to outdoors. A nice Victorinox Pocket Knife is always useful or the Victorinox Card, and its not expensive. You can also give him fishing gear.

NO GIFT CARDS!! Would you want a gift card from him? No - you want something more thoughtful.

I think DVDs are great presents for early relationships. I bought my boyfriend a dvd for his birthday that was a month or so after we started dating. It was a movie that he really liked, but didn't have. He really fell for me after that because he realized that I was paying attention to what he liked. An added bonus was that we got to cuddle up and watch it together.

Another guy that I was casually dating loved George Michael - so for his birthday I got him a George Michael DVD and He LOVED it - though I don't thing it made him love me anymore. We are still friends though and I know that he still appreciates the gift.

Give him a gift card to Dick's or The Bass Pro Shop. To add to the cuteness of it, put it in a shirt box and fill with those slimy fishing lures or gummy worms!

Give him a card and a gift card for 100 to home depot. If he takes you out to dinner a lot make it 300.

I Think you sould get him a gift not a certificate to me they look like you didn't want to make an effort at all. Get him something that will remind him of you a key chain engraved or a really comfortable shirt so he will think of you when he sees it.

Get him a 2007 fishing license, you say he fishes. They have them at Sport Chalet and they come in a nice box.

Either a Swiss Army knife or a flashlight that you can attach to a ball cap. The brand I have is called "Cat's Eyes". I use mine a lot.

Maybe you can get him both!
