Yes and No. If a static image from the console is left on for too long you may have burn-in (Plasma and CRT). Other type of tv like LCD and DLP don't have that problem. Your game system won't damage the tv operations since they only output the signal for the tv to decode.

For starters if you leave them on pause to long they will burn an image on the screen. I've been playing games since the Intellevision/Atari days and can't attribute game consoles to screwing up any of my TV sets...

all your tv does is display the signal that is being transmitted by your games console through it's aerial or scart lead..
It can not damage your tv in any way.

well they can be - do not use on tube type projection TVs - do not use with the contrast at max ( both risk 'burn in' a permanent screen image due to stationary figures )
