We have 10 nieces and nephews and three kids. We buy for all of them for Christmas, so as you can imagine after that my budget is stretched thin. I would like my 6 year old to help make something for aunts and uncles and grandparents. I don't know what to make though, and it couldn't cost an awful lot to make. I'm not a very crafty person either, so I wouldn't do good with anything really crafty on my part. Does anyone please have any ideas?

How about cookies, fudge and caramels for xmas gifts for the relatives? I bet they'd love it, and if they don't then too bad, let them regift the food at the office.

Check a cigar store and see if you can get either free or inexpensive cigar boxes. You could decoupage pictures or Christmas cards onto them. Then paint them over with the Mod Podge (from a craft store) It coats the pictures so they are permanent. Make sure to paint the top of the box with the mod podge then paint the back of the picture that you want to glue on.
When it is dry you go over everything again with the Mod Podge.

They could be spray painted a pretty color first with a can of spray paint, gold or red or Christmas green. They could be left a solid color without the pictures part. Cut a cardboard to fit the bottom and cover it with fabric and glue to the cardboard. Press it into the bottom of the box.

They are great for holding office supplies, jewelry, knickknacks, etc. then glue on the pictures or leave them a plain color.

Just a suggestion. I wish you were a crafter I have a lot more Ideas.

Happy Holidays.

This ones always a hit! Find a copier. Have your six yr. old place her hands or bare feet on the copier and close it as far as you can, make sure her eyes are shut because the light of the copier can harm eyes, and start copying. Get some highlight pens and let her go to town, coloring over her copies. Help her sign and date them. Glue them to a piece of card- board or thick poster- board, leaving space for a boarder. Help her glue tinsel, glitter, tiny red ribbons, or any thing you have around the house that would make a pretty, 'Christmas', boarder. And now you have a gift any relative would love! Tip: when gluing paper print to background, use glue sparingly or it will make the highlight color bleed. Have Fun!

Snowglobes are fun to make and you can do them from baby jars. Just check them out on the internet. They are easy and people like them because they are crafty and personalized! You can do so many different things. Make a special Christmas Ornament with the year on it. You can use the lid off of a can and glue some pics on it or anything you want.

Just a suggestion...
buy some inexpensive terra-cotta pots, maybe the 6" size... have your daughter either paint them, or decorate them with ripped tissue paper, (glue the pieces on)... or any kind of doo-dad that can be glued on.
You can get some potting soil, measure how much will go into one pot, put that amount into a zip-top baggie. Place that baggie in the pot, and put some seeds into another baggie, or a whole pack of seeds. (If you put a few seeds, make sure to copy the growing directions onto some paper to include with the pot.)
I like the "forget-me-not" seed packs, but there are countless kinds you can get. This was the people you give the pots to will be able to grow something, and think of her every time they look at it.
Have fun.

My kids have been making gift for people for 19 years they looking forward to the home made gifts my other younger kids make each year. My favorite and I think easy one is to buy the clear christmas bulbs you can get them at any craft store the metal top comes off real easy but have her be careful it is glass and she can fill them with all kinds of things.....ribbon or potpourri I have also had them put paint in them and swirl it around they come out so pretty she will need to pour out the extra paint but you can add a color then let it dry for a few hours then add another color to fill in but the paint stays wet for a few days you have to let them sit. good luck.
