The Macbook Pro uses a lithium-ion battery (most are made by Sony) which does not have a "memory". That is to say, you can recharge it at any time without affecting its' chargeability. Oficially, Apple isn't commenting about the battery life (yet!) but to save battery life you can try several things: 1. Turn down the screen intensity. 2. Set the hard drive to sleep as much as your work allows. 3. Minimize use of the DVD drive. and 4. Go for wired connectivity to the Internet when you can - the wireless card is a bit of a power hog.
Hopefully Apple will improve the battery life in the near future or there will be an aftermarket battery "base" for it like there was for the old Powerbook.

Apple does offer an airline adapter. It doesn't charge the battery, but it provides extra power to help the battery last longer. Look for it in the Apple Store online.

I would recommend going to Radio Shack, Circuit City, etc... and ask for an air adapter charger for your laptop. Basically it is a charger you can use anywhere you because it also has auto and standard wall charger connectors as well. You could also get an additional battery as a back up. Have a fun safe trip.
I think it was called Juice IGo or something like that.

Try playing around with your battery settings. My laptop has options that lower screen brightness, processing speed, and all of that in order to make the battery last longer. If you're using it to watch movies or play games then it might drain up faster.

Make sure you either charge it up using true AC power or buy a DC to AC power inverter that has attachments that you can plug into aircraft power. APC makes these devices and you should be able to buy one at like a Circuit City or Best Buy or Comp USA. Nothing will kill your battery faster than charging it with DC power like a straight car charger.

make the screen solution darker, don't blast the sound, don't run to many programs and you can also buy an external battery.
