If the recipe calls for wax, yes. It is not toxic, although it has no food value. As for me, I'd make something else.

Am gave a very good answer. It is not going to hurt you. It is a common ingredient in chocolate for the reason she gave. Ask any soldier who has served in the Middle East about the chocolate bars they get that do not melt when it is 100 deg. I had on ex Army tell me they made better candles than candy.

When referring to waxing your candy, there are other choices that are used just for that. to use regular wax, you might as well eat a candle. good luck. :)
