As of 2004, the biggest ship ever built is the Norwegian-owned tanker Jahre Viking (ex-Happy Giant, ex-Seawise Giant).
Built in Japan in 1979, her cargo capacity was increased when an extra section was added to her enormous hull in 1980. Over 400 metres long and measuring 260,851 gross register tons, she has a cargo capacity (deadweight tonnage) of 564,763 tons.
In comparison, here's the Titanic Specs:

So the jahre Viking is almost twice as long as the Titantic, and over ten times the tonnage. By modern standards, the Titanic is a dwarf. the Titanic didn't even make the list of the top 25 longest ships (see the last link under sources).

there are thousands of ships bigger than the Titanic...almost every ocean liner/cruise ship built since 1945.......Freedom of the Seas and Queen Mary 2, the two biggest today,for example displace 3 times Titanic; almost every tanker and container ship since 1960 are twice to three times the size.as the other poster said, its been 90 years and technology has moved on

Almost all modern cruise ships are bigger. Remember, we're talking a difference of almost 95 years of technological and design innovations here.
