Has he? I've been looking for a link to a quotation where he actually said "If you don't vote for me then you're a racist." I've been reading that he said this all over YA but each time there is no link, and honestly, I can't find one. I know he addressed the idiots making a big deal out of his middle name and he should have. But can anyone prove he actually said the above? Or was it something else that got twisted into nothing but slander? I really want to know, despite my sarcasm. I'm very interested in this candidate. So if those of you who keep saying that he said this can provide proof I would be very interested. If not, then I guess it's what it seems to be - spin to make him look bad.

Okay, I give up. I've surfed until my fingers are numb and the quote that Alex left is not to be found, at least not by me. I did come across something else interesting he said about race and politics, etc.:
Obama shrugged off his cross-racial appeal, attributing it to a more open-minded electorate.
"People are interested in what a candidate's message is and less concerned about their color or where they reside," Obama said. "I don't want to be Pollyannish. Obviously race remains a factor in our country, and I don't think that's going to go away any time soon.
"I am hopeful, however, and I think that yesterday's results indicate that my faith in the American people and their capacity to take a look at candidates who may not share the same surname or the same racial background as them is" not misplaced.

Honestly, Mr. Obama is a very articulate, intelligent man. Can you really see him saying something like that?
This is obviously one of those quotes that nobody can find the video for or an eye-witness, like when Al Gore was supposed to have said that he invented the internet. That one got repeated and repeated until everybody thought it was true. It was just an urban myth.
Mr. Obama's style is much more self-deprecating. If you listen to him, you will come to the same conclusion. He wouldn't say something like that.

No, he has never played the race card. And if anyone actually looked, they would see his mother is white and father is from Africda, literally. They endured a lot of predjudice and hate for getting married int the 60's, so I am sure they raised their son better than that.
Although it is a bit early for the next race, he has my vote if he runs.

I'm waiting for the speech that they are refering to, to be put up on his official website. It might be there now. Just Google his name and you should find a link to his official website and from there go to links for his speeches. You want to look for one done in NH on 12/11/2006. Until I actual read that. I'm reserving judgement on that comment.
For me I will never jump on the bandwagon for any canidate this early in the game.

Barack took head on the bigots that were using subliminal racism to attack his 'candidature'. The best form of defence is attack and what he has done is blunted their weapon.
Immediately after his speech, The Rush, O'Reilly lemmings took their cue from their great leaders and hence you can not find any references to Barack playing the Race card. Irregardless of his name, Barack is a 100% patriotic American like any other, even if their names are Limpbaugh, O'Reilly, Coulter, Bush and Cheney.

I've actually heard republicans talk about obama as being a great candidate. LOL All I can say to that is be careful. If the republicans think he's great you know they have something on him. I would say follow the money trail. See where it leads ya.

He never said that. I can't even remember the original quote that this stems from, but it was twisted ten times over and that became the result.

I'm not sure of the link, but what he said was "Those who wont vote for me because of my politics are the ones who wont vote for me because of my race"

More hate spewing from the right to slander him before he even announces if he is running or not. I am impressed with how frightened of him they are.
