I am in a foreign country, I do not speak the language here and need credit on my phone to feel secure-I spend about 10 pounds on credit per month. She is a student and I am the bread winner
we are not struggling-yet she refuses to give me money during the week and to top up my credit??? ps She controls the cash as I am a foreigner and cannot open an account-any cash she earns part time is hers and doesnt go towards our savings. Is this typical behaviour should i accept this?

This is not typical, you should be a team and have a system in place that works and which you both agree upon.

No definately not. She is exploiting the fact that you are in a foreign country and making you totally dependent on her! If I was you I would speak to my boss and ask if it's at all possible to be paid in cash, until you can open your own bank account! I am sure he will understand. If she is not sharing her income, then why should you? Obviously as bread winner, certain aspects are yours to take care of, but what remains is surely yours to spend as you wish. You are not a child, so she should stop treating you like one! Perhaps she doesn't want you phoning!! Thats just controlling!! Stand up and voice your rights!! Can you imagine what it will be like once she has finished studying and earning??

I wouldn't. Neither would my husband. Sure, a marriage is a unity between two people, but if one is being selfish, no, the other shouldn't give in either. This is kind of childish but if you can't agree on sharing, then why mix money in the first place. Seperate money all the way, she can start working part time to pay her share.

You mentioned he substitute into broke, divorced and obese and you think of she is attracted to that and could blow her marriage over him. you prefer to believe your spouse yet you DON"T and that's the subject. i did no longer say enable it proceed reason it has gotten you in the approach to divorce her and she or he would not even understand. i think of you need to sit down along with her and clarify to her which you do no longer concepts helping her ambition yet no longer in this occasion. well usually in a marriage one person is the "nerd" and always takes care of finances well and the other is the "jock" and never really worries about numbers. BUT if she is withholding something that is a necessity for you let her know that you need a credit amount of money for the basics, or just open an account woth just your money, becuse sometimes sharing accounts doesn't work well for everyone.

I am English and have a foreign boyfriend. When he first came to this country he spoke very little English as did his friends but they all have bank accounts (Barclay's bank) i think maybe your girlfriend could be a little insure (like myself) and wants the control and to be relied upon to keep you. It still is not acceptable !

'A foreigner and CANNOT open an account', why's that then?
You are the main bread-winner? How?..cash in hand?
If you are an illegal, then I would accept what you are given.
If you are not, then I see you have met British women then!
