I don't have a baby (yet - ttc now) but I use to pierce ears for a living. Baby's recover from the piercing faster then anyone else. They will cry because the noise of the gun is scarry not so much from the pain - because their cartilidge is not fully formed yet it doesn't hurt them as much. However - it is harder to get the holes even (one might end up higher then the other) and you have to make sure to only put nickel free earrings in in case of allergy. Just thought you'd like that information if you are trying to make a decision... if this is a poll... just ignore me!!

I have to ask the person who said that their babies ears nose and belly button is peirced...why not just tattoo the kid?!
Any way my daughter was 3 months old when we had it done....she did great....If we hadn't done when we did she probably wouldn't want it done now she is a drama queen and freaks about things like that....It is up to you as a parent you have to make sure they stay clean and heal with out infection....

No - I think it's in bad taste. I will let me daughter make her own decision when she is older. I know there are certain cultures that do this, I had a really good friend that pierced her babies ears.

No!
I dont want to put my baby in that position to feel all that pain..
I am also scared she will tug at her ears and may end up ripping her earrings out. I also feel this gives children a feeling that it is okay to get piercings as mommy and daddy pierced my ears so they will probably let me get my belly button pierced!

I have a 7 month old daughter. And yes she has her ears pierced. We had them done when she was about 5 months old. They say it is better to do them while they are younger because they don't pull on them, rip them out, ect. When they get older like 2 and 3, they are more likely to pull them out.

No. With both my girls I waited until they were 2 years old and ASKED for it. I would never consider putting holes in a baby. Maybe she won't want her ears pierced. Don't do that to a kid, let her decide.
