Places that have HR staffs/consultants who think there is value in it.
Drug testing has become more prevalent over the last 2 1/2 decades. There are no solid studies and statistics that it has helped any company be more productive.
Yet they continue to waste corporate resourses on it.
So, short-sighted, wasteful companies do drug testing.

Most companies now employ some sort of drug testing. A previous answer said there was no study that showed drug testing equated to more productivity. That is not the purpose of drug testing. Companies test for illegal drugs. Companies do not like to hire drug users. Drug users are more likely to be unreliable and untrustworthy. Drug users are more likely to get hurt or hurt someone. Companies have responsibilities to their customers and their other employees as well as their bottom line. If it were your business, would you want a drug user to work for you.

Nearly every job requires drug testing now.
Its mostly for insurance reasons. If you were to injure yourself or someone else at work, and it turned out you were on drugs at the time and they had not tested for it, they would end up losing a LOT of money.

many jobs are also regulated by the federal government and require drug testing due to safety sensitive functions- example all truck drivers are under a drug testing program.
