What does he like, what are his interests, what are his tastes? (It makes no difference that he's gay, unless you were thinking of buying him sex toys or porn.)
If you really can't think of anything he would like, it will have to be a gift voucher, so he can choose something for himself.

Get some ideas by going to www.gifts.com. You can do the personality search & it'll let you answer questions about your friend in order to find something to suit him. At the end, you'll have a list of lots of presents to get him. Even if you don't find the right one, it may get the juices flowing to help think of something good to get him. Good luck~

why don't you just ask for some suggestions. Ask him for a wish list-- serious or funny. At least you'll know you're getting him something he wants.
