The lesser of two evils always wins. As outsiders, we often have bad opinions of leaders that disagree with us. He might not be a good leader, but he is doing things for the country the previous leaders had neglected and from the peoples perspective there he might not seem like that bad of a guy. By the way, did he win by popular vote?

Humanist...you obviously do not know any Venezuelans...my wife is Colombian and her business partner is Venezuelan (actually lives in Venezuela)...the educated Venezuelan do not like Chavez...they see him for what he is...he has told the poor he was going to help them...but he did not...his government took over the oil...so now it is Chavez who is rich...he just wants to be a dictator like his buddy Fidel...you should move to Venezuela and see if you would like it there...you would probably be kidnapped and held for ransom... that happens a lot there...if Ol Hugoito was not anti-Bush, the media would never talk about him...I give him a few more years and he will go the way of Noriega or the Colombian Narcotraficantis will kill him for the money he owes them....

He is a commie. I do not see the change among socialism and communism. He nows says he's going to put in the "socialism of the twenty first century" in accordance along with his Boliviarinism ideals. This is very nearly giving govt handouts to individuals and nationalizing each trade. The redistrubition of wealth and following Karl Marx's ideals. He is a soiled commie! Chavez is a danger and must be removed, the individuals of Venezuela do not know what they have gotten themselves into.

You need to learn more about Venezuelan politics. Chavez left no smoking gun. That's a far cry from saying it was a clean election.

Clean election? The people were too scared to vote for anybody else, fearing for their lives. That is the way dictators rule.
