There are 400 species of eel, some of which are eaten by humans. I would assume that most predatory birds would eat an eel if they could catch one.

Eels are prey to all kinds of fishing birds. Otters, snapping turtles, and people eat eels, too. I'm sure there are many other examples.

Research suggests that only one percent of all the eels complete the whole life cycle. When they’re tiny larvae they become part of the plankton and can be eaten by whale or sea anemones. During their life cycle other fish, birds, drought and fishermen endanger them.
