it depends what you intend to do and how long you wish to be there for. If you are looking to go for two weeks, do a twin centre as Havana is brilliant. The National is a lovely 5* hotel in havana that comes highly recommended. As for the rest of your stay its more about what facilities you are looking for and your budget as it is not really a destination where you go out. I suggest reading through the brochures to look for which hotels offer honeymoon extras, spas and anything else of interest to you. Good luck!

I went on apackage holiday which started off with 3 days in havanna. The city is steeped in history and there are lots of places to visit and things to do and 3 days is enough to fit it all in.Then i went to Varradero for 11 nights and stayed in a complex called the Tryp Penninsula. This is a top of the range complex and has beautiful apartments much in the style of the Florida Keys. What i found though was that the hotels in Varradaro are designed to keep the customer in the complex and venturing out I could see why.The entertainment was thin on the ground in the area and the transport to get about was inadequate. There is a distinctive lack of cuban culture also, and as beautiful as it was I could have been anywhere.I flew with First Choice but would look at booking through Virgin as the service on the aircraft is of a superior quality. If you want more info e-mail me and i will be happy to oblige.Happy honeymoon to you both.

There is the Hotel of the Americas in Santiago. There is another luxury type hotel, but don't know its' name. I love Santiago because the people there are wonderful. It's on the other end of the island from Havanna. Time is of no consequence there. It is the oldest city in Cuba. Outside the city of Gwantanimo (not to be confused with the U.S. base), there is a place we found where a man has carved all number of animals - life size and larger - out of rock - we called it the rock zoo. He carved them from photos in the National Geographic magazine - it has to be seen to be believed! They are all just laying on the landscape and up the side of mountain. He has a horse that has to be at least 10 feet tall.

My husband and myself went on a Sandals holiday in Varaderos. It was fab. Luxury throughout, food fantastic, adults only...which was a bonus. First class all round...you'll love it.
