I wouldn't worry yet, and the fault may not be on the Russian side. Through past experience I know that the UK post office put a low priority on incoming international mail at this time of year. You may not get your item until after Christmas.

As for the Russian mail, it used to be terribly slow. It still isn't great but they actually had the Royal Mail in a few years back to modernise their systems, so its not all bad. I still would trust them with anything valuable though (again, past experience).

Don't panic until after Christmas.

It honestly just depends. In the past four years or so I think it's gotten alot better. The last time I had a problem with sending a package and it taking MONTHS to arrive was back in 1999 or so. Since then sending from Russia or to Russia usually takes the maximum of three weeks though it's usually two.

It's not bad at all. I use it all the time (USA to Moscow).. it really depends how did you send it... I usually add about 7-10 days to the time frame that I'm given. Let's say I was told that it'll come in 7-10 days, I count on 14-20 days, it works. Always do the insurance, just in case... you never know what might happen to the plane..
Just be patient... it'll come
Happy Holidays,
Svetlana

This is my experience with the postal system so I don't want anybody getting mad at me. While I was in Kharkov, Ukraine. I asked my brother Joe to send me a NCLEX Nursing Exam book. I wanted to use this an enticement for nursing students to learn English. A month later I still didn't get even though it was sent USPS priority mail. I went down to the my district Kharkov Postal office and inquired about it. They told me they haven't received it. I waited 2 weeks later and went down again to Post office and they told me they didn't have it. I called my brother Joe up and told him the post office stoled it. He went down to USPS and filed a claim for reimbursement since it's insured under priority mail. The USPS headquarters in NYC called Kiev and said where is the book and if you don't have it then pay us for it. Kiev Headquarters called Kharkov and told them they must give the book to us. Within 24 hours of talking to my brother Joe I got the book. I highly recommend to anyone who sends a letter or package to register, insure, etc it. Mail does disappear.
