Hard to say, the rosters are not even close to set. The Yankees have been handed the AL east by the Redsox's disasterous offseason moves. If one of the Yankees young prospects come up big in the rotation this year the Yankees will waltz in. If they do not give the prospects the chance to play then it will be the AL Central winner going. Most likely the Whitesox if they can find starting pitching and get their starters back to 05 kinds of numbers. The Twins are not ruled out, the Tigers I think hurt themselves so far in the offseason. They are killing the very spirit that got them to the series this year but underestimating Pudge and Leyland is always a mistake. So the Tigers are not out of it. The A's always come up with pitching gems and Piazza might have a monster year with the tools of ignorance put aside. Realistically I think it's down to the Yankees and the AL Central winner. None of the four teams are doing the right things to get there.
In the NL the Mets are busy trying to self destruct. The Braves haven't patched any of the many holes yet. The Phillies are accumulating innings eaters which helps but doesn't work very well in the post season. The Astro's are not adding pitching which they need. The Cardinals are just getting a year older. Still dangerous. 06 was a major under performance for them. However they remain very dangerous. Key is starting pitching. Injuries and age are threatening to wipe out the rotation.
The NL West is a mess. Lots of panic and a flurry of motion but it's all running on a treadmill so far. The Dodgers have wasted lots of money on aging and risky free agents. The Padres have cleaned house and seem to be ready for a youth movement but have not produced any youth to take the place of the vets they spun off. The Giants are basically throwing in the towel already. Resigning current players, mostly really old players. The Cubbies are doing the treadmill thing in the east. Lots of moves but not really addressing the big problems. The Reds as usual came out of nowhere but lack the talent to sustain it. So the Cardinals and Astro's have little to fear if they play up to expectations. The Astro's so far are coming in weaker. Losing Pettitte a potentially big blow to the rotation. Lidge's collapse last year a big big big problem.
So it's really kind of down to the Phillies and Cardinals as stands so far. The Phillies having been handed the NL East despite some poor moves so far in the off season but nothing compared to the insanity of the Met's moves. The Cardinals just by mostly standing pat have the horses if they can stay healthy. The Astro's having gone after the pitching they need to get past the Cardinals. Short series if the Cards starting staff is up to par the Cards will walk past the Phillies. If the starters don't have their stuff the Phillies will slug their way into the series. Both are in trouble against the AL winner since both have very suspect rotations. The AL winner whether it be the Central winner or the Yankees will be the team that found pitching. It might be the Whitesox starters returning to 05 form or it might be a youngster coming up with the Yankees or the Twins or Tigers getting repeat and better years out of their borderline pitchers and youngsters.
All of this can of course change in a hurry. The talent is still out there. Teams are making big mistakes like the Whitesox giving away Garcia. That is a mistake that will come back and haunt them, potentially in the WS this year. The Yankees seem determined to go with aging and ineffective arms. Paveno in particuler is almost certain to flop this year. He may have good years left in him but 07 won't be one of them. Not after being on the DL for a year and a half. Randy Johnson might be done. He's old as the hills and has nothing really left to play for except pride. Mussina and Pettitte are getting up there in years. The team has several good pitching prospects rotting in the minors while they trot out the old folks to the mound at the start of the year.
The Blue Jays could patch up their rotation and suddenly become dangerous. They have an ace, a good year out of Holliday and add a #2 like Zito and the Jays are suddenly going to win 85 or more games. If Zito remembers how to pitch AND Holliday has a really good year the Jays could win 100 games this year and might go to the series. Kerry Wood might have a full and effective season. The Cubs might get a closer, a real closer that is. That would suddenly put the Cubbies in contention. Lots can change and lots of talent still out there.

Well in my opinion the Dodgers will win it all. They have made the most improvement from last year. They kept a decent and steady offence in their team. The Dodgers also have one of the best if not the best farm systems of all of baseball. Their young prospects will shine and are a year older. Some are experience in the playoffs now and thats a plus. They also added some powerful pitchers to their pitching staff. They should dominate their division next year and develop a good record along the '07 year. Ned Colletti has made some excellent moves. They should be the favorites to win the West and win it all next year!!!

Okay, I'm a str8 Cardinal/ WSox fan, but I'm not crazy i'm keepin it real. Chicago is a great team, but their pitching was all whacked out toward the postseason, and they had some other difficulties, so their out. The cards are an even better team. BUT if they get big headded about the 06 WS, they're gonna flop. The only reason they won the WS is because of dumb pitching errors, and awesome umpiring calls. The world series wasn't even a challenge for the cards after the loss to the Tigers in game 2. So, all in all I' m going with Tigers or Mets.

I think if the red sox sign the japan pitcher and get a good closer we they have a good chance of going all the way becasue the yankees don't have the pitching!! Yankees haven't won in 6 years, and they won't win in another 80 years!! Red sox and Mets 2007 WS red sox win WS at home in 6 games and boston goes wild!!!!

The Kansas City Royals will beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in 7 games. Carlos Beltran and Johnny Damon will hit homeruns off of Jeff Suppan and win da series!
I think all the old players like Randy Johnson and Moises Alou and Barry Bonds will sustain life-threatening injuries and therefore their respective teams will fold like an origami umbrella.
I'm all for these third-tier teams rising up and taking control of a money grubbing, out-of-salary-controlled league!!! I'm putting a hundred dollars on the Royals and Pirates playing in the World Series in 3007!!!! YEAH!!!!

slowly but surely the Padres are sneaking up on everybody in the MLB. While other teams jumped on the big money bogus deals, the patience the Padres have presented will make the strongest team coming into opening day. watch for the upcoming trasactions!

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the detroit tigers. we already know they have a lights out pitching rotation. i'm personally a braves fan but the tigers are young, which protects against injury. their coach is awesome to cant remember his name right now but they will be in the mix come october next year. for all you yankees fans, money doesnt buy happiness so eat it.
