Each year at our golf club (outside London UK), we have an international match - Ireland, England and Scotland. Being Irish, I tried for years to join the Irish team and eventually played for them. Once in, I thought I was ok for the following year and looked forward to it. However, the Irish Captain was extremely rude and told me I was not playing on the day of the match. I played instead for the English team. I played one of the best games of my life, won the individual prize for best gross and net score and to cap it all, we (England) beat Ireland by one point. It was the most satisfying moment in my golfing life and the look on the Irish Captain's face shall remain with me forever ....................
