When I engage my clutch there are a few instances to where I can not shift into any gear. I mean it wont go anywhere. All that happens is that it makes a thuding noise each time I try to access any gear. I have to litterally jam it into third to start moving. Once in gear I can move freely throughout the gears. Its almost as if the clutch never engages. This only happens occassionaly when the Jeep is at a stand still such as at a red light....never while moving. I can turn the Jeep off and fly through all of the gears with no resistance. I have had my cluth, transmission, slave cylinder, master cylinder, pressure plate, and throwout bearing all replaed in hopes of fixing this problem all with no luck. I hope someone can help me out. The only thing I have left to guess is that possibly the drive shaft anf transmission arent lining up porperly...and if not, how do I fix it?

the drive shaft couldn't have anything to do with it - it has no connection to the tranny that can't flex

it will be your transmission mounts or shift linkage with a slight chance of a misalignment between the transfer case and the transmission

i would check the bushings in the shift linkage first ( and the arms for bends ) and then the transmission mounts ( for tightness more than anything else ) this is based on the things you have already replaced

and i would recheck the clutch and slave cylinder - next time it happens let the clutch out slowly with no pressure on the shifter - if you don't hear the throwout bearing disengage ( whirring noise stops ) then the problem is the clutch or linkage

Had a few trans where the detentes would hang up and not let the forks shift gears . One thing you do not say is if the jeep is lifted. Body lifts cause relay rods to bind up at times. Could also be the syncs does it grind in any gears?

I somewhat have a ninety 5 Grand Cherokee. I had the transmission rebuilt at 190k miles because I somewhat have the inline 6. worth replacing once you've treated your truck. i'm at 210k now and gazing for yet another 100k. For each and each and every of the Jeep haters accessible i'm sorry to procure a lemon and didnt comprehend what to seem for.
